Lieberman Acquires D&R Star Amusement
Two Minnesota Companies Combine Forces
On November 30, 2022, two Minnesota companies with a multi-generational relationship combined forces with the acquisition of D&R Star Amusement by Lieberman Companies. D&R Star will continue to operate from their facility in Rochester, MN with the same staff. Owner Mike Hawkins will remain on as a consultant.
“Things will be business as usual for D&R customers,” said Dan Lieberman, President of AAA, Lieberman’s amusement and ATM route. “The Hawkins and Lieberman families share a similar philosophy in the way we treat employees and customers, and our goal is to maintain the level of service that D&R has been known for.”
D&R Star Amusement was founded over 59 years ago by Dick Hawkins, Jr., Mike’s dad. D&R operates a large amusement and ATM route in southeastern Minnesota. They also operate one of the largest pool and dart league systems in the state of Minnesota.
A family-owned business founded in 1907, Lieberman Companies is an ATM distributor and nationwide certified ISO processor. The company operates an amusement route in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area called American Amusement Arcades (AAA) and offers game rentals for special events. Lieberman also conceptualized and founded Elsie’s Place gaming cafés based in the Chicago area.
