Great Minnesota Game Together
Playland Arcade Enjoys Record Year at the Minnesota State Fair
Since the mid-1950’s, American Amusement Arcades (AAA) has operated the Playland Arcade at the Minnesota State Fair, one of the biggest and most unique state fairs in the country.
Every year, the AAA team diligently assembles 80+ games to operate an arcade during the 12 days of the fair. This year, sales soared to new heights thanks to a record attendance year at the fair and an awesome equipment line up.
“We worked hard to acquire some of the latest pieces,” said Tim Zahn, AAA General Manager. Some of the hits included LAI’s Virtual Rabbids, Bay Tek’s Connect 4 Hoops, Raw Thrills’ Halo: Fireteam Raven, Coastal’s Ring Toss, UNIS’ Lane Master, and Smart’s Ticket Time Crane. The Giant Crane was a hit with a Llama Unicorn combo from Peek-A-Boo Toys.
Twelve Days of Team Work
Two AAA team members stay at the fair in a “spacious” but air conditioned dorm room. This year’s stalwarts were Russ Bayer and Dave Meyer. The combo did the past two fairs as well. While the Minnesota State Fair offers some of the most creative cuisine, after a few days the crew was making their own delicacies.
Many other Lieberman/AAA team members helped by working service shifts at the arcade or working behind the redemption counter. “We appreciate the team rallying to have the arcade run smoothly,” said Lieberman Companies President Hal Lieberman. “Many people put in time beyond their usual working hours.”
