The ATM celebrates milestone this week
It’s hard to imagine living in a world without the convenience of an ATM but prior to June 27, 1967, they did not exist.
This week, the ATM is celebrating its 50th birthday. The first automated teller machine, which took about 2 years to make, was installed in London fifty years ago. Like many new technological advancements, ATMs were not very popular with consumers at first. But security enhancements, machine modifications, and consumer adoption over the next couple decades paved the way for the nearly 3 million ATMs worldwide today.
